SOURCE/DESCRIPTION: An anonymous 1.3kb Hind III/EcoRI fragment in pUC19, subcloned from a 7.5kb Xbal/EcoRI genomic clone. The fragment is coamplified with c-Ki-ras 2 in DNA from a metastatic human lung carcinoma (Heighway and Hasleton, 1986). POLYMORPHISM: Stu 1 identifies a simple two allele polymorphism with bands at either 2.5 or 8.7kb. FREQUENCY: Studied in 35 unrelated Caucasians 2.5 kb allele 0.64 8.7 kb allele 0.36 NOT POLYMORPHIC FOR: EcoRI, Xbal, PvuII, Hind III, Sacl, Bst EII, Dral or Pstl with a panel of 9 unrelated Caucasians.. CHROMOSOMAL LOCALISATION: The probe was assigned to chromosome 12 and localised to 12pter-12ql4 using a panel of somatic cell hybrids (Heighway and Geurts van Kessel, unpublished results) MENDELIAN INHERITANCE: Co-dominant segregation demonstrated in three informative families.
